Academy Award nominee, screenwriter, playwright, actress, producer, and director, the multi-talented Nia Vardalos has chosen the historic Pallas Theater to present, for the first time in Greek, in her homeland, her play Tiny Beautiful Things. The play is the New York Times Critics’ Pick; worldwide, the production has achieved great artistic and commercial success and rave reviews.
Tiny Beautiful Things is Nia Vardalos’s stage adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s beloved book Tiny Beautiful Things, which is a collection of real letters—letters that could have been written by any one of us. These letter-writers were answered by Strayed with optimism and tenderness, offering guidance for both small and big life challenges. Vardalos adapted the book with care and love and has starred in the stage productions in New York and Los Angeles. For Nia, beyond cinema, theater remains her greatest love and creative passion.
Nia Vardalos will star in and co-direct her play in Athens. The original staging was directed by Tony Award-winning director Thomas Kail and premiered in New York theaters in 2016.
This deeply cathartic drama was so widely embraced that it was published and immediately sparked new productions in theaters across different countries and continents, and has been performed continuously ever since.
The world-renowned and beloved artist Nia Vardalos now embarks on a spring theatrical run, adapting the play into Greek, with a translation by Spiros Katsaganis. Alongside a strong cast of Greek actors—her artistic companions Dimitris Papanikolaou, Danai Loukaki and Dimitris Kitsos —she brings Tiny Beautiful Things to Greece performing on stage in Greek for the first time, at the Pallas Theater.
Starting on May 16, 2025, she will share with Greek audiences a moving and cathartic experience infused with humor, tenderness, drama and empathy.
